With Christmas just around the corner, our kitchen designers here at Kitchen Trends have picked their top five must-haves to put on your wish list this Christmas. Perhaps you’re just starting out with researching possible designs for your new kitchen? Our list will help you get started with some great ideas that will take your new kitchen from ‘great’ to ‘wow’.
Wish List Item #1 – Slim/Thin Benchtops
Thin benchtops have made a strong comeback in 2016. With many of our clients moving away from the 40mm/60mm thickness and opting for the slimmer benchtop. Thinner benchtops are subtle, offering clean lines and don’t overpower the kitchen design. But don’t get us wrong. You can still make a statement with your kitchen benchtop with so many colours, patterns and materials that are available to choose from. Our kitchen designers are loving this look.
Wish List Item #2 – Butlers Pantry
Incorporating a butlers pantry into your kitchen means you can hide smaller appliances, and keeping your kitchen benchtop free of everyday clutter. With the added storage bonus, they can also provide additional prep-space, which let’s face it, we always seem to need no matter what size the kitchen! You can even pop a second fridge and sink in there.
Wish List Item #3 – Drawers
You can get very clever with drawers in a kitchen today. From corner drawers, sink drawers, pantry drawers. Even drawers within drawers (yes, they do exist!) An abundance of drawers in a kitchen means maximum yet convenient storage, allowing you keep the kitchen tidy, and position items at a convenient and always accessible reach. Let our kitchen designers show off by giving you some drawer design examples you’d never even imagined possible!
Wish List Item #4 – Power Docks
Powerdocks are a great way to get that extra power when you need it. Best suited on an island bench, you can plug in your appliances and spread out while whipping up a storm in your new kitchen. They come in a variety of colours and outlet options, and can even include a USB point for all those family hand-held devices.
Wish List Item #5 – Window Splashback
Stone, tiles, glass, mirror – there are endless possibilities for your kitchen splashback. But nothing quite beats a kitchen with a view. Imaging standing in your kitchen, whipping up a delicious meal for the family all the while looking out your kitchen splashback window… It’d even make doing the dishes enjoyable (well, almost!)
Window splashbacks are an ideal way to allow natural light to flow into your kitchen and create the feeling of openness – bringing the outside in. We’ve built many kitchens for our clients that have incorporated a window splashback, positioning cooktops or sinks in front.
